Books we point people to
The God Who Hears. Does God hear me?
It's the quiet question hiding behind every hesitant prayer. We bring our burdens, whisper our fears, speak our thanks — and wonder if our words reach past the ceiling. The answer of Scripture has never changed. He hears.
The book
Twenty-six ways to pray.
- Subject
- Prayer
- Structure
- 26 chapters, A to Z
- Length
- 244 pages, paperback
- Also includes
- Prayerful meditations and a Scripture index
The God Who Hears is an invitation to pray with confidence — and to let your prayer life be shaped by the One who inclines His ear to every cry.
It’s built on a simple A-to-Z framework: twenty-six postures of the praying heart, from Adoration through to the quiet place where you rest and remember that He is God. That structure does something useful on the mornings when you sit down and have no idea what to say. You don’t have to invent a prayer life from nothing. You start at a letter.
It’s written by Drew Rogers and Dillon McCurdy, and published by In the Midst. If you’ve been around TheWay for five minutes you’ll recognize the second name.
The framework
A to Z, one posture at a time.
Twenty-six chapters. Read it straight through, or open to the letter that matches the morning you’re having.

Why we point at it
Prayer is where it starts.
We’re a church that talks a lot about walking in the Spirit and studying the Bible. Prayer is the part people are most likely to feel behind on and least likely to say so out loud. A book that hands you twenty-six ways in is worth more than another exhortation to pray more.
There’s a companion volume too — The God Who Leads, a verse-by-verse walk through Joshua.
And if you want to read Scripture alongside it, TheWay Bible app and Scroll are both free. What we believe about prayer, the Bible, and the Spirit is written out on the beliefs page, and we work through books of the Bible together at our Bible studies in Big Rapids.
