Bible study · Big Rapids

Open the Book with people.

Before TheWay ever holds a Sunday service, we're gathering around Scripture — in living rooms and over coffee in Big Rapids, working through the Bible book by book. You're invited.

How it works

Small, honest, and through the text.

A TheWay Bible study is simple. A handful of people, a passage, and an hour. We read it out loud, ask what it says, what it meant to the people who first heard it, and what it means for us. Then we pray for each other and eat something.

We work through books of the Bible in order rather than jumping between topics, so over a few months you actually know a book — and you learn how to open one yourself. Nobody has to have the answers. The Bible was written to be read together; that’s how the church read it for its first fifteen hundred years.

Ferris State students, young families, and people who have followed Jesus for decades sit at the same table. If you’ve never been inside a church, this is an easy first step. If you’ve been inside plenty, it might be the part you’ve been missing.

Whoever calls on the name of the Lord — what 'name' means, and why it matters how you use it

Joel said it, Peter preached it, Paul repeated it: whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. A name in the Bible is rank, reputation, and reign — and we call on it, pray in it, and act in it.

Proverbs 1:1–9 — what the book of Proverbs is for

Solomon tells you the purpose of the book in the first seven verses. Proverbs aren't math equations — they teach you how to think, not just what to think. And it all starts with the fear of the Lord.

Questions people ask

Is there a Bible study in Big Rapids I can join?

Yes. TheWay is a new church forming in Big Rapids, and before our first Sunday we gather in small Bible studies — living rooms, kitchen tables, coffee shops. Join the interest list and we'll send you the next one.

Do I need to know the Bible already?

No. Most people don't when they start. We read a passage together, talk about what it says and what it means, and nobody is put on the spot. Bring a Bible or use TheWay Bible app on your phone.

What do you study?

Books of the Bible, in order — the same way we preach. Right now we're working through James online; the study pages are on this site so you can follow along wherever you are.

Is it for students, families, or older people?

All of them, in the same room. TheWay is multi-generational on purpose. Ferris State students, young families, and grandparents study together.
